Showing respect to Lecturers/Teachers

As an international student the one thing I really found interesting and quite like is the way

students show respect to their elders/lecturers by going to the lecturer at the end of class and take

the hand of the lecturer and bow towards the offered hand of the elder and presses his or her

forehead on the elders hand. This is  done in order to show courtesy, politeness, respect, &

admiration towards the lecturer.  In our culture this is not practiced similar to other practice that

is opening and closing with Surah Al Fatiha and Asr Respectively.

So as a future counsellor specially non- Malay counsellors my advice is that don't be shocked if a

student  client at the end of the session takes your hand to offer respect and don't feel strange as it

is a part of their culture which is very nice way to show respect. :)
