The food prepared in Pakistan is very similar to Indian cuisine. We
share most of the spices and dishes. But very different from the Malay dishes
which is usually very sweet for our taste.
I also found that, people prefer here eating rice a lot, even during
three times a day while most in our culture prefer to have roti during the day
and rice at night or vice versa. One of the most shocking thing I also found
opposite of our culture is that in our culture tea is supposed to be HOT but
here people drink cold tea. If I tell this to my people they won’t be able to
believe that.
Our dishes are more to salty flavor or other spices and not taste
sweet. We have many kinds of rice and the most special one is the BASMATI RICE
which we use to make biryani with. Biryani is the most loved food by Pakistani
people. It is cooked on every special occasion, and sometimes once a week at
some houses. Biryani can be made from vegetable, chicken, meat or fish, but
usually people prefer Chicken or Meat.
Some of the other dishes enjoyed in our country and common in all
provinces are Chicken tandoori, Chicken Karahi, Chicken Jalferezi,Haleem,
Nihari, Daal of different kinds, keema, nan-kebab, butter chicken curry (I just
love butter chicken with naan, i miss home now 😍 😂)and so
on.
We have also special drink Lassi (Yogurt Drink) which is a cold drink
and we have two kinds of tea one which is similar to teh tehrik and the other
is a milky cup of Kashmiri chai which is pink in color and both are taken hot.
We also have many kinds of sweets or desserts like laddo, gulab
jamun, kheer, halwa, Swaiyan, Shahi Tukra, falooda, ras malai etc.
I would like all my foreigners friends to definitely try these dishes
as they are very delicious and one of the best food out there. Of course La don’t
eat from a bad restaurant or you will go sick. 😂
Please know that food culture of Pakistan, India and even Bangladesh
are same because we used to be one country not very long ago so please don't
get confused. Maybe the way of cooking is a bit different and etc. but the
origin is the same :)
